PQube has announced that they’ll be bringing Steins;Gate, a very popular and acclaimed visual novel, to PS3 and Vita in both Europe and North America next year.
Many people will have been introduced to the world of Steins;Gate with its sublime anime, and it’s an anime I adore and fully recommend that you watch. It has a loveable cast of characters, an enticing story and I’m excited to be able to finally play the game it’s based on.
Steins;Gate follows Okabe and friends as they realise they can change the past via text message, with the help of a modified microwave. This huge discovery doesn’t go unnoticed and they’re now being watched by SERN, the organisation being the Large Hadron Collider in their world, and the mysterious forum poster John Titor who claims to be from in the future.
Being a visual novel, most of the gameplay is reading, although Steins;Gate uses the “phone trigger” system which allows you to respond to calls and texts; what you choose to do affects the plots overall conclusion.
I’ll probably get both versions as I’d like to support visual novels coming overseas, although I imagine the Vita will do a better job of acting like a book that I can read everywhere.
