As someone who never played the previous two The Witcher games, the excitement and hype stemming from the upcoming sequel is amazing. It’s not everyday a game is big enough to have its own pop-up store!
The store, which will make its home in Kalverstraat 101, Amsterdam for little less than a week, will feature apparel from Musterbrand, meet & greets, live streams, competitions and Q&A’s. Oh, you can buy the game there too! It officially opens on at midnight on 19th May, the games European release, and it’ll stick around until Sunday evening when it’ll pop-down and disappear forever.
Peter Söderlund, Marketing Manager of Nordic & The Netherlands at Bandai Namco, has said that, “We are very happy and honoured to be given the opportunity to create the first pop-up store dedicated to one specific game in Europe. If there’s one game that deserves it this year, it’s absolutely The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The anticipation around this game is unheard of and thrilling. The Witcher 3 has already won over 200 awards before release!”
200 awards is hugely impressive no matter what way you look at it and The Witcher 3 is sure to be on a few game of the year lists. The last pop-up store I remember hearing about was during the PS4 launch, so let’s hope there isn’t another debacle where people are buying stuff with plans to sell them.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt releases on 19th May (12 days away!) on PS4 and I know a few of us are going to be buying it (well, I will be although I’ve almost forgotten what Western games feel like at this point) and you can probably expect our thoughts on it sometime after release.
