We’ve got another bite-sized PlayTime for you this week, in which the PS4A team’s most played titles were adventure game Firewatch and brawler Street Fighter V.
This week I spent all my time playing Firewatch. It’s a quick playthrough, and by quick I mean I was able to finish the entire game in two sittings, one of which I had to stop after only the first in-game day. I almost immediately fell in the love with the game, however. It wasn’t at all what I was expecting, as fighting fires is probably the thing you do the least while playing.
The characters and dialogue are superbly written; it’s easy to be drawn to someone like Henry or Delilah, even though you never really see them (you play as Henry and you only hear Delilah through your radio). I won’t spoil any of the details, but this is one of those games where you should just sit down and play when you have a free evening. It’s something special.
With Street Fighter V releasing this week, I’ve been spending a lot of time playing that! I love it and although the complaints about it being a little barebones is true (no versus CPU mode?!), the core mechanics and online are fantastic, so I look forward to more content being added.
Other than that, I’ve been playing Rocket League, Star Wars: Battlefront, Black Ops 3 and carrying on with the excellent Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, Megadimension Neptunia VII and The Witch and the Hundred Knight: Revival Edition.
The urge to replay Persona 4 Golden has been coming on a little stronger than usual lately, especially as I’ve not played through it on my PS TV yet, so you might be seeing that appear on here again soon! I also think I’ll return to my PS3, to get back to some games like Yakuza 5.
Other than Final Fantasy XIV (which I’m pretty sure has been my most played game every week for over a year now!), the main game I played this week was Street Fighter V. I really love the visual style, and the gameplay is rock solid, but it’s hard to ignore the shocking lack of content at launch; especially considering that I am predominantly a singleplayer gamer.
I also appear to have run into a glitch which prevents me from levelling up, so fingers crossed that this will get patched soon. All in all, I think I’ll return to the game next month, once the teething issues have been resolved, and the game is a little more feature complete!
