This week’s short-but-sweet PlayTime features a number of impossibly charming games, including Firewatch, Life is Strange, Unravel and The Witness.
I got my hands on the Life is Strange Limited Edition this week, which includes an art book, soundtrack, and director’s commentary. I’ve heard great things about the episodic game so I thought I’d give it a go. While I haven’t had much time to play, I’m enjoying it so far. The story is rather intriguing and does a good job at connecting you with its characters. I’m looking forward to seeing how it turns out.
I also downloaded Firewatch after hearing quite the uproar about the game’s release this week. I remember watching the announcement trailer and thinking how gorgeous and unique the game looked, but then I completely forgot about it until its release. I haven’t actually played it yet (busy, I know), but want to make sure I have a good chunk of time to sit down and experience it uninterrupted.
My PlayTime this week probably sounds a whole lot like last week’s, with one difference – Unravel. I was sold on Unravel when it was announced at E3; the guy announcing it was shaking like a leaf! I could see how passionate he was and the game really impressed me, and I look forward to playing through it again. Well worth the £15 and I highly recommend it.
Black Ops 3, Battlefront and Rocket League have been my ‘go to’ online games, while other games I’ve played include Gravity Rush Remastered, Guilty Gear Xrd, Ultra Street Fighter IV (V actually arrived a few minutes ago!), the fantastic Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, Earth Defense Force 4.1, Crypt of the NecroDancer and Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4. I’d imagine this week will be more of the same too, except with Street Fighter V eating up a lot more of my time; in fact, now I need to go on SFV and get my Cammy and Chun-Li on!
It’s been an expensive week for me on the PlayStation Store, as I purchased Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: Russia, Firewatch, Gone Home: Console Edition and Unravel; why did they all have to release in the same week?! Somewhat embarrassingly, I’m actually yet to play any of them, so expect to hear a lot about them in the weeks to come. However, I did make a little more progress on The Witness, which I think I’m gradually getting to grips with. Over the last few days, I’ve also been rediscovering PC gaming with my new curved ultra widescreen monitor, which looks amazing.
